ACSAT Pacman Robo-Boxer

- ROBOTICS: ACSAT DEVELOPMENT CONTINUES

From Scifi to Scifact, the study of robotics continue to inspire the imagination.

The Pacman Robo Boxer, a humanoid figure that imitates the arm movements of a human boxer namely, left straight, left upper cut, left hook, right straight, right hook and right upper cut establishing the usage of the servomotor for humanoids’ flexibility and movements through observation and experimentation.  Use of aluminum sheets for the brackets, a special microcontroller was used as the “brain” of Pacman Robo Boxer since this could be used to program it's Basic functions.  This robot weighs 60 kilograms and is made of mannequin and has a base, 2 square steel used as the robot’s stand.  The upper body has a T-Base weighing 8 kilograms. Servomotors are used because these motors can move to more angles and has 2500 revolutions per second.  The robot operates by using a remote control with infrared (IR) Receiver.  The robot can run one cycle of the combo (e.g. Combo 1: left straight, right hook and left hook) button in the IR remote.  Further studies will be undertaken in order to one day come up with a more-developed robot boxer that can mechanically go the whole 12 rounds of boxing. The robot is on display at the office of the College of Engineering and Electronics Department at the ACSAT Center, Quezon City. For more information contact Mr. Ronaldo Racelis at the ACSAT College of Engineering and Electronics. (TAJON-R-06.12.10)
